American institute of childhood

The American Institute of childhood (or Instituto Interamericano del Niño ( IIN )), is an organization charged to promote the wellbeing of the maternity and Enfance in the American countries.

Created the June 9th 1927 on the initiative of the pediatrist uruguayïen Shine Morquio, it was recognized like specialized company of OAS in 1949. The Head office has its seat with Montevideo, Uruguay. Between 1927 and 1962, it bore the name of Instituto Internacional Americano de Protección in Infancia .

Its objectives are to as well defend the rights of the child to the level of the aprobación of mow convenciones as for the legislative measures and of industrial relations policy between its Member States. It makes a technical asesoría and the diffusion of the rights of the child.

Member States: Argentinian, Bolivia, Brazil, Cuba, Chile, Ecuador, the United States, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela (all in 1927) Then: Mexico (1935), Costa Rica (1938), Paraguay (1939), Colombia (1941), Dominican Republic (1943), Honduras (1944), Guatemala (1946), Panama (1947), Nicaragua (1948) and Haiti (1949)

Organization of the IIN

Congreso Panamericano del Niño , plus high authority establishing the policies and directives. chooses the authorities. It meets every four years, and integrates the Member States of the IIN.
Consejo Directivo , to charge with formulating the general policy and to defend the achievement of the mandates of the Congress. Y sit a representative of each Member State of the INN
Dirección Nacional , in charge of the administration of the IIN and to lead to their end the programs and approved actions. Y sits
