American Ornithologists\' Union

The American Ornithologists' Union ( AOU ) is oldest and the largest company of the new world devoted to the study of the Oiseau X.

It was founded in September 1883 by Elliott Coues (1842-1899), Joel Asaph Allen (1838-1921) and William Brewster (1851-1919).

Its publication quarterly, launched in January 1884, names The Auk .
