American Institute Film

The American Film Institute ( American Institute of the Film ) is an independent organization with nonlucrative goal created by the program National Endowment for the Arts, which is founded in 1965 when the president Lyndon B. Johnson sign the Act of the National Foundation of Arts and Humanity. American Film Institute concentrates on teaching, with the AFI Conservatory, which preserves old films prone to the degradation of their film. In spite of its name, the AFI is not centered exclusively on films, but also on television.
In 1973, the AFI sets up the Life Achievement Award
In 1998, the hundredth birthday of American Film, Afi begins its 100 Years Series, celebrating and promoting the interest of the cinematographic history.
The organization recently opens the AFI Silver theater with Silver Spring with the Maryland, not far from Washington.
