American Gigolo
American Gigolo is an American film carried out by Paul Schrader, left the February 8th 1980.
Synopsis
Julian Kaye (Richard Gere) is a man who male prostitute in Los Angeles. Its " boulot" its taste prohibitory for the stereophonic cars, equipment and clothing appeases (which is used to him as substitute to the emotional contact). It is sometimes in a narcissistic and surface obvious way, however it affirms openly that it takes pleasure in its " travail" , that to be able to satisfy a woman sexually.
When after a job for her first intermediary, Anne (Nina Van Pallandt), it meets Michelle Stratton (Lauren Hutton), a dissatisfied woman of a local politician, who is interested by him. The other " souteneur" of Julian, Leon (Bill Duke), sends it in the house of a financier, who asks Julian to misuse physically and to have a sexual relationship with his wife his involved.
Later, Julian learns that the financier and his wife were assassinated. The inspector Sunday (Hector Elizondo) of the police force of Los Angeles inquires into Julian like first suspect. Although it was with a customer the night of the murder, this customer refuses to provide an alibi to Julian, to protect her reputation and that from her husband.
(It is easy comprehensible, although a little retro: an activist trade unionist Joe Hill was accused of murder at the beginning of the 20th century because he refused to call a witness of alibi which was married with another man but was with Hill the night of the murder. Hill was a gentleman of the " old woman école" and passed in front of the firing squad for that. The difference is that Hill kept silence, at all prices; Julian Kaye required of the witness to attest his presence and she refused but later changed opinion.)
At the same time as its relation with Michelle deepens, the suspicion of murder goes up against him. It realizes quickly that it is suspecté and becomes quickly desperate. Its decline is represented visually by a vestimentary leave-outward journey, as its clothing which is crumpled, its badly shaven face, its hiring of a car not expensive after its Mercedes was " trifouillée". Julian confronts finally Leon, who confesses to him that one of the others gigolos young person which works for him without intention the woman of the billionaire had killed. Leon had conceived the plan to make imprison Julian. Without anybody to help it, Julian finishes in prison, avoiding the inculpation for murder; however, at the end Michelle risks her reputation and that of his/her husband to provide an alibi to Julian which can leave it prison.
In the catch of final sight, Julian tenderly puts back its face against the ice which separates it with the hand of Michelle.
