American Stock Exchange is managed by American Stock Exchange LLC, a subsidiary company of the National Association off Securities Dealers, which also exploits the NASDAQ. The AMEX is famous to have flexible rules, which makes it possible more modest companies to be with dimensions there, in particular foreign companies, especially Canadian. The volume of the exchanges accounts for 10% of those carried out to the NYSE.
The origin of the AMEX probably goes up at the time colonial, when the stockbrokers sold their marketable securities in the street, by facing the bad weather, close to Broad Street and of Exchange Place . This ancestral activity, which was extremely noisy, had ended up generating a gestural system to communicate effectively in the hubbub. In 1921, the stockmarket was transferred in the building which shelters it still today.
