American Chemical Society

The American Chemical Society is a Learned society based with the the United States active in the field of the scientific research in Chimie. Founded in 1876, the ACS counts currently more than 158.000 members in all the fields of chemistry and the Chemical engineering. It organizes two congresses in the United States per annum covering all chemistry, as well as a great number of less important congresses on more specific subjects. Its department of the publications publishes more than twenty scientific magazines of foreground (oldest among it, the Journal off the American Chemical Society , having been created in 1879) and several collections of books. The first source of revenue of the ACS comes from the chemical abstracts.

American Chemical Society also comprises a department education which produces standard tests of level in many fields of chemistry. It sponsored also national Olympiads of chemistry of the United States, which selects the team of four students representing the United States with the international Olympiades of chemistry.
