American Academy off Arts and Sciences

The American Academy off Arts and Sciences (or American Academy of arts and sciences ) is an organization dedicated to the teaching and the progress of knowledge. She plays the honorary part of company to the the United States.

James Bowdoin (1726-1790), John Adams (1735-1726) and John Hancock (1737-1793) founds the Academy with Boston during the Guerre of independence of the United States of America. It organizes conferences, research projects and publishes quarterly, Dædalus . The institution counts 4.000 members and several hundreds of honorary foreign members. During the year, its members are invited to take part in meetings being held in Cambridge or in regional centres like the Université of Chicago or California.
