Ambystoma opacum

The marbled salamander (in binomial classification ambystoma opacum ) is a species of Amphibian urodele pertaining to the family of the Ambystomatidae . One primarily finds it in the east of the the United States, in the States of the Illinois, the Texas, the Florida and the Oklahoma like in Nouvelle England.

This salamander of intermediate size measures approximately 10 cm at the adulthood. She lives primarily under ground and is generally observed only during the season of the reproduction.

It is called the salamander marbled because of its black spots on a white zone evoking the Marbre.

The number of marbled salamanders is in reduction because of progressive regression of their natural habitat.
