Ambronay

Ambronay is a common French, located in the department of the Ain and the area the Rhone-Alps.

It is a small village of the Ain, a few kilometres from Ambérieu-in-Bugey.

Gabriel Fournier elected mayor in 2001 succeeded Daniel Benassy, general adviser of the canton of Ambérieu-in-Bugey since 2001.

the Benedictine abbey Notre-Dame d' Ambronay

The abbey is located at the center of the village was founded at the 8th century. It is a masterpiece of the Gothic art presenting of the parts of Xe, XIIIe and XVe centuries. Very rich, it was ruined during the French revolution. The church, saved destruction in spite of a conversion into stable, found since its religious vocation.

Thanks to ideal acoustics, it became the seat of an international festival of Baroque music in October and November. Labellisé Arts center of meeting since 2003, to see here, the abbey of Ambronay became a place in concerts of conferences and exposures.

Culture

Labellisé Arts center of meeting since 2003, Ambronay is a place of division where the culture is accessible to each one, a place of exchange open on the life. Children, teenagers, amateurs, professionals, researchers, students, international, young artists professional…, Ambronay offers a space of creation and blooming to all.

For the students and young musicians, the European Academy baroque and the master-classes are as many international projects of professionalisation and improvement.

For the young people Ambronay proposes artistic and teaching courses " with the carte" , allowing amongst other things the reception of cultural classes.

For the amateurs, the Chœur of the Festival joins together each year between thirty and forty chorus-singers around chiefs of reputation. Around its artistic reflection and of its set of themes " music and sacré" , the research center of Ambronay chose to spread itself in various directions: researchers and creators work in concert to explore of them the ramifications intellectual, human, social and artistic. Continuing its ambition of professional insertion of the young musicians and researchers, Ambronay will develop its productions in order to make it possible the talents of tomorrow to emerge.

Lastly, the Label Ambronay is distributed by harmonized mundi since 2005. Thanks to the support of the institutional partners, a new phase of restoration and valorization of the inheritance opens. It will make it possible the residences to open out and the seminars of companies to take form.
