Amboró national park

The National park Amboró is located in Bolivia at the west of the Département of Santa Cruz, in an area located in the Eastern northern part of the Andes cordillera, on its slopes and the plain which begins there. It is about the " Bend of Andes" , place where the Bolivian Eastern cordillera changes direction and directs right towards the south. The area is very sprinkled and includes/understands an important zone of the Bolivian Yunga S.

West coast the national park is next to the National park Carrasco which is located in the Département of Cochabamba.

General information

  • Situation : The park is located in the Département of Santa Cruz, with the limit of the Département of Cochabamba.
  • Surface : The park and the surface of integrated management have a surface of: 637600 hectares (: 6376) the part corresponding to the national park itself is of 442.500 hectares.
  • Altitude : Fluctuate between: 3200 and 300 meters.
  • Climate : The climate is moderate in its high part, and hot in the low zones. The annual average temperatures vary between 12°C and 24°C according to altitude.
  • Precipitations : Precipitations vary according to the zones, between 600 mm and: 3400 mm in the wettest zones.
  • Hydrology : The river basins most important of the surface of the park correspond to the ríos Ichilo, Yapacaní, Surutú and San Mateo, which all are tributary of the Río Mamoré.

Fauna

It is extremely rich, almost single in the world with regard to the birds and the reptiles ; this in relation to the abundance of precipitations.

Mammals

There is more than 120 species of mammals of which:
  • 15 species of marsupiau X;
  • 7 species of Primate S;
  • 19 species of carnivorous S;
  • 44 species of Chiroptère S;
  • 7 species of Xenarthra;
  • 1 species of Périssodactyle;
  • 4 species of Artiodactyle S;
  • 1 species of Lagomorph;
  • and 9 species of Rodent S.

Among these species, let us quote for example: the jucumari or oso of anteojos (bear with glasses or tremarctos ornatus), the Jaguar (Panthera onca), the Puma (Felis concolor), the Ocelot (Felis pardalis), others Cat-like S (Felis yagoaroundi, Felis wiedii, Felis geoffroyi, Felis tigrina), the Fourmilier (Myrmecophaga tridáctila), the giant Armadillo (Priodontes maximus), the monkey spider (Spider monkeys paniscus) and Cervidé S (red Daguet, Stag of the marshes or '' mazama will gouazoubira ''), of the rodents (Agouti paca, Dinomys branickii).

Birds

The number of catalogued birds exceeds the 840 species, more than 60% of all the species of birds of Bolivia. This figure is higher than the wealth of birds of a good part of the countries of the sphere. Let us announce the military Ara and the Cormoran S of the Phalocrocorax kind. Reptiles

105 species of reptiles are found, which makes of Amboró the site more diversified in the world. To underline inter alia the presence of the Prionodactylus eigenmanni, Bothrops jonathani, Bothrops sanctaecrucis, Micrurus frontifasciatus, Caiman yacaré, Large anaconda and Tupinambis teguixin.

Amphibians

76 species of Amphibians were identified.

And 109 fish species were recorded.
