Ambarawa
Ambarawa is a small town of the province Indonesia of Java Centers, located between Semarang, the provincial capital and Salatiga.
At the time of the the Indies Dutchwomen, Ambarawa was an important rail junction. The line Semarang - Ambarawa- Magelang was closed in 1977. The Museum Api Kereta Ambarawa (" museum of the railroad ") there is located.
During the Japanese occupation at the time of the Second world war, Ambarawa was the site of camps of interement Japanese where nearly 15.000 Europeans were interned. Following the capitulation of Japan on August 15th, 1945, and proclamation of the independence of Indonesia on August 17th, 1945, engagements burst in the area of Ambarawa on November 20th, 1945 between the British troops come to evacuate the European prisoners, and the young person Armée indonésienne.
