Amaury VI of Montfort

Amaury VI of Montfort was born towards 1195, he is the son of Simon IV and Alix de Montmorency. He takes part in the campaigns of Languedoc under the orders of his father. Heir to the County of Toulouse with died to Simon and incompetent to preserve them, it yields his rights to the king (1224) in exchange of the title of count for his ground of Montfort-l' Amaury.
Constable of France following his uncle Mathieu II of Montmorency in 1230, it takes part in the Croisade of 1239 and it is made prisoner at the time of the disaster of Gaza. Prisoner with Babylon, it is released in 1241 and, the same year, dies in Calabria during the return in Occident.
Marriage and children
Amaury de Montfort married in 1214 in Carcassonne Béatrix de Viennois (v. 1205 † after 248), girl of Guigues VI Andre of Burgundy, dolphin of the Viennese, and Beatrice de Sabran. The marriage was consumed only in 1220, and gave rise to:- Jean († 1249), count de Montfort,
- Marguerite, married to Jean III count de Soissons,
- Laure, married to Ferdinand de Castille, count d' Aumale, then in Henri de Grandpré, lord of Livry,
- Adela († 1279), married to Simon II of Clermont, lord of Nesle,
- Pernelle († 1275), abbess of Port-Royal.
