Amaury II of Lusignan

Amaury of Lusignan , (or Aimery ), born about 1145 in Poitou, deceased at Midsummer's Day d' Acre on April 1st, 1205.

Junior by family, it is announced out of Holy Land since 1174. Very quickly it gains the confidence of the king de Jérusalem Baudouin IV which appoints it chamberlain of Jerusalem in 1175. In 1180, his/her young brother Guy come to join it out of Holy Land marries against any waiting the sister and heiress of the king Sibylle. He benefits then from the fortune of his brother, in 1181 he becomes constable of the kingdom of Jerusalem then is made count de Jaffa and of Ascalon in 1193.

Lord then king de Chypre

Died of king Guy in 1194, it succeeds to him like lord of Cyprus. Aimery, contrary to his/her younger brother left the reputation of an advised politician. An Arab chronicler qualifies it wise and friendly prince rest . He is regarded as the true founder of the kingdom of Cyprus. He organized the administration and revised in particular the donations of Guy to create a sufficient royal field and to set up a viable mode. He obtained from the pope the creation of an archbishop's palace with Nicosie and of three évêchés with Paphos, Limassol and Famangouste. Finally it obtained the royal title of the hands of the chancellor of Henri VI, Germanic Roman Emperor. It is crowned in Nicosie in January 1197.

9th Latin king of Jerusalem

After the accidental death of Henri de Champagne in 1197, the barons of the Royaume of Jerusalem offered to him the crown with the hand of queen Isabelle of which they was the fourth weddings. He is crowned in Tyr " 9th Latin king of of Jerusalem " , in January 1198.

The kingdom was reduced then to the towns of Tyr, Antioche, Midsummer's Day d' Acre, Jaffa and Sidon. The new king successful to take again Beirut and renewed a 5 years truce with the Moslems. He dies of a sea-bream indigestion (?) and is buried in Nicosie.
