Amarlu is a district of Rudbar in the province of Gilan in Iran with for center Jirindih. It is located in a mountainous region. There are two Kurdish ethnos groups in Gilan: the Rišvand (or Rašvand) and the Amârlu. Rišvand belong to the Bâbân, a tribe of Solaymâniya and moved in Gilân by the Chah Abbas Ier. Later, they are driven out their pastures by Amârlu, which them were moved in Gilan of the North-West of the Perse by Nader Chah. Today, Rišvand live mainly in the province of Qazvin. Amârlu occupy a cinquentaine of villages between Menjil and Pirâkuh in the south-east of Gilan.
