The colonel Amar Ouamrane , called Drunk qqaru , is a revolutionist Algérie N, one of first engaged in the fight against the French presence and also one of the initiators of the insurrection.

He was born in 1919, into Draâ El Mizan a commune of Kabylie (Algérie), Amar Ouamrane integrated the rows of the French Army. After obtaining its certificate of primary studies, it entered to the military academy of Cherchell where it followed a military formation and will obtain the rank of sergeant.

It deserted at the time of the Massacre of Sétif of the May 8th, 1945. It is stopped and condemned to died then pardoned in 1946 by the general Catroux.

It turned over in Kabylie and became responsible within the PPA-MTLD (Parti the Algerian people - Mouvement for the triumph of the democratic liberties in Algeria) assistant for Krim Belkacem. Its political activity during the electoral campaign of 1947 for the municipal elections was worth to him to be again stopped but it succeeds in escaping and was constrained, as from this moment, to live in clandestinity.

November 1st 1954, to the release of the Revolution, Amar Ouamrane directed the first operations in the area of Draâ Ben Khedda. It succeeded Rabah Bitat with the head of the wilaya IV (Inhabitant of Algiers). Amar Ouamrane takes part, in August 1956, with the Congrès of Soummam at the conclusion which it reaches the rank of colonel of the ALN and, for this reason is named with the CNRA (National council of the Algerian revolution) representing Wilaya IV. In 1960, it was named representing FLN (Front of National Release) with the Lebanon then in Turkey.

He died on July 28th 1992.
