Amable Troude

Amable Gilles Troude , born on June 1st 1762 with Cherbourg (Handle) and deceased the 1824 with Brest (Finistere), is a sailor French.

After two days of engagements in front of Cadiz (Spain), the July 14th 1801, Formidable the ordered by Amable Troude is delayed by a damaged aerofoil. Four of the ships of the admiral Saumarez approach but it can attack initially the frigate the Thames , obliging it to beat a retreat. It slows down then, letting approach the Venerable , vessel of 74 guns, while two other British ships, whose Caesar , operate to bar the road of Cadiz to him.

Once the Worthy arrived at range, it goes, by well adjusted shootings and skilful operations, to sift it balls. Disabled, shaved like a pontoon, threatening to run low, the British is in quite bad posture. The three other ships of Saumarez return, hesitant, either to carry help to the Venerable , or to destroy this French insolate. Troude is not let disturb, continuing its destroying shooting on its victim. They end up deciding to save their ship, thus leaving in Troude, wounded in the business, the leisure to offer, at the beginning of afternoon, a triumphal return in the port of Cadiz, where it is acclaimed by the population, and where already the other survivors of the combat of the day before are.
