Aménophis is the Greek transcription of the name Amenhotep ( imn htp ) carried by Pharaons and personalities of the ancient Egypt.

The Pharaons Amenhotep

During, four Pharaons bore the name of Amenhotep:

  • Amenhotep {{Ier}} (- 1526 to -1506),
  • Amenhotep {{II}} (- 1425 to -1401),
  • Amenhotep {{III}} (- 1390 to -1352),
  • Amenhotep V (which changes its name for Akhénaton) (- 1352 to -1338).

The name Amenhotep entered the composition of the royal titulature as Nom of Its-Re or a name .

There was several Amenhotep divinized. In Greek the name of these Pharaons is Aménophis.

Amenhotep 1st and Ahmès-Néfertari

They are first patron saint, they received a particular worship on western bank of Thèbes, and more precisely with Deir el-Médineh, the village of the craftsmen of Pharaon; Amenhotep 1st is regarded as the manufacturer of the village, like his mother the large queen Ahmès-Néfertari, wife of the late Pharaon Iah-mosis. Their worship was a real success, although the mother exceeded the son in the heart of the Egyptians.

Amenhotep wire of Hapou

Amenhotep wire of Hapou lived under the reign of the large king Amenhotep {{III}}. He is the builder of his temple of the million years, on western bank of Thèbes. According to the writings, this monument would have been vastest of all the funerary temples, today remain only the two guards of the necropolis, the colossi known as of Memnon .

Amenhotep V/Akhénaton and Néfertiti

This Pharaon heretic who installed his capital with Akhetaton (Such-el-Amarna) and adored Aton, the single god, did not erase on the other hand the divine nature of the king. Thus, whoever wanted to request Aton was to pass by the royal couple, i.e. beautiful Néferet-Ihy and the king Akh-in-aton. They were to some extent divine intermediaries. But the king had to want of diviniser his queen because one can see that it replaces Isis and Nephtys in the funerary roles. The Pharaon thus wanted to install the Amarnienne triad made up of Aton, Akhénaton and of Néfertiti. A cosmogony which is finished by the six girls of the couple, very expensive with the eyes of their parents. The triad did not last in any case ten years. And Amon took again its rights.
