In 1782, Amélie Zéphyrine de Salm-Kirburg married Aloys Antoine de Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen (1762 - 1831).

Biography

Amélie de Salm-Kirburg belonged to the German princely House of Salm-Kirburg, it grows with Paris. At the request of her parents, she married in 1782, the crown prince Aloys Antoine de Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen. Very quickly however, the life in the souabe small town on the the Danube appeared with the princess " unbearable and contraignante". Ten weeks after the birth of her son Charles de Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen (1785), it returned to only to Paris. With its departure of the French capital, it had left there her brother Frederic II of Salm-Kirburg. This one made build in Paris in 1782 - 1787 the Hôtel of Salm by the architect Pierre Rousseau. The Parisian residence of the German princely family was soon a point of meeting of the high society of the French revolution. But at the time of the Great Terror (May 1794 with the July 28th 1794), Frederic II of Salm-Kirburg was guillotine the 6 messidor An II (July 23rd 1794) on the place of the Throne and his/her lover Alexandre de Beauharnais was guillotine on Thermidor 5 An II (July 23rd 1794) also on the Place of the Throne in Paris. Amélie Zéphyrine de Salm-Kirburg survived the French revolution. In 1797, secrecy, the princess charged certain Mr. Brun with acquiring on his behalf the piece corresponding to the site of the common graves where his/her brother and his lover rest, this one is located at the bottom of the Cimetière Picpus. In 1806, with the agreement of the princess the common graves and the remainder of the garden were joined together by a gate. In 1926, the Company managing the Picpus Cemetery bought with the family of Salm-Kirburg the site of the common graves.

In 1796, Amélie Zéphyrine de Salm-Kirburg bound with influential personalities of the Revolution, such as Charles de Talleyrand-Périgord, Napoleon Bonaparte and Joséphine de Beauharnais widowed of Alexandre de Beauharnais.

During years 1800 - 1806 it made benefit with his/her son Charles de Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen from his relations, this one pled near Napoleon i the maintenance of the sovereignty of its principality of Sigmarigen.

After having lived during twenty years in Paris, Amélie de Salm-Kirburg was of return in the principality of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen. She lived first of all in part of the old convent of Inzigkofen, then until its death she lived with the Prinzenbau with Sigmaringen.
