Amédée VI of Savoy
Amédée VI of Savoy , known as the Count Vert , born the January 4th 1334 with Chambéry, died of the plague with Naples on March 1st 1383, was count de Savoie, of Aoste and Maurienne of 1343 with 1383. It was wire D Aymon the Pacific, count de Savoie, of Aoste and Maurienne, and Yolande de Montferrat.
It was thus called because of an armor and one delivered of green color which it carried at the time of a tournament to Chambéry.
He marries in 1355 Bonne of Bourbon, girl of Pierre Ier, duke of Bourbon and Isabelle de Valois. By his/her mother, Bonne of Bourbon is niece of the king Philippe VI of Valois. She has a sister married with the king Charles V. Of this union four children are known:
- a dull girl in 1358
- Amédée VII of Savoy, known as the Count Rouge , married to Good of Berry
- Louis (1362 † 1365)
- Antoine, alive in 1391
It acquires in 1355, by the treated of Paris, the province of the Faucigny and signs the same year a treaty with France which fixes the border between Savoy and the Dauphiné. It founds in 1362 Orde of the Collar of Savoy which will become the Order of knighthood of Annonciade
In 1365, Amédée VI succeeds in obtaining the title of " perpetual and hereditary vicar of the Empire in the old kingdom of Arles" hands of Charles IV of the Holy roman Empire of passage to Chambéry, allowing him to require the homage of the bishops of Tarentaise, Maurienne, Belley, Sion and Geneva, even if this last were concealed quickly.
It fought his cousin Jacques, prince de Piémont before managing an agreement in 1357, which it in addition imposes to the son and to successor of this last. Amédée VI also fought the marquis de Salucces and of Montferrat. Warrior, it passed the seas in 1366 to help his cousin Jean V Paleologist, emperor of Constantinople, triumphing over Bulgarian and stopped for a time with Gallipoli, on the Dardanelles, the walk of the Turks. Amédée VI engaged in a Neapolitan campaign where he died in 1382 - 1383
The Place of the Count Vert to Monthey in Suisse testifies to the importance that the house of Savoy had on Chablais.
