Amédée IX the Pacific
His/her father Amédée VII having died in tragic cirsconstances with Feast, the Amédée young person becomes count whereas it is only eight years old. A fight will take place for regency between his/her mother Bonne of Berry and its grandmother Bonne of Bourbon, which will obtain win and remain regent until 1393, when she is dispossession of regency. Despite everything it will preserve an important influence on the count who lays out from now on effective capacity.
He is regarded as one of the principal founders of the State of Savoy, by his acquisition: the Genevese while benefitting from the extinction of its last count (without Geneva, but with Annecy), the final incorporation of the prerogative of the Piedmont in 1418 in the county following the extinction of the male line of the branch junior by Savoy-Achaïe, and finally, the erection of the county in duchy on February 19th, 1416 by the emperor Sigismond in visit with Chambéry.
In 1430, it promulgates the Statuta Sabaudiæ (statutes of Savoy) which, much more than one administrative and legal coding, approach a true constitution.
He is the creator about Saint-Maurice in 1434, date on which he withdraws himself with the Château of Feast by entrusting the general lieutenancy of the duchy to his son Louis I {{er}} under the title of prince de Piémont so that it is formed. The duke is indeed torn after the death of his Amédée son, if promising, in 1331 and there sees the means of training Louis, who seems less gifted for the businesses. In spite of its retirement it will frame his son in the direction of the duchy by addressing instructions regularly to him. It will abdicate only in 1440 while being made crown with Basle after being elected pope by the council of Basle.
Antipape Felix
Under the name of Felix , Amédée IX of Savoy, was Antipape at the time of the Concile of Basle. Its Miter is exposed in the treasure of the Abbaye of Saint-Maurice d' Agaune. The election of Felix results from a fight of influence between the pope Eugene {{IV}} and the members of the Concile of Basle. After a series of conflicts, Eugene V decides to transfer the council from Basle to Ferrare in 1438. Only a minority accepts initially this decision and the council decides to continue to sit at Basle. The October 30th 1439, being based in an erroneous way on the decree Haec sancta of the Council of Constancy, the " concile" claims to deposit Eugene V and elects in his place Amédée IX of Savoy, then 56 years old, under the name of Felix.
The antipape Felix is established the July 23rd 1440 in the Cathédrale of Lausanne. It takes as secretary Enea Silvio Piccolomini, who becomes the future pope Pie {{II}}, and which took its distances with Basle quickly.
Felix submits in 1449 to the successor of Eugene V, the pope Nicolas {{V}}. He is then named bishop of Geneva, pontifical and cardinal legate. He is the last antipape officially recognized like such by the Catholic church.
He withdrew himself in the priory created by him with Ripaille, where he dies in 1451. Its bones, found after the profanation of its sepulchre during the wars of religion, were carried to Turin.
