Alwin Berger is a German Botaniste , born in 1871 with Möschlitz and dead the April 20th 1931.
He works in the botanical gardens of Dresden and Francfort-sur-le-Main before becoming the conservative of the garden of Sir Thomas Hanbury (1832-1907) with Mortola close to Vintimille, in the North-East of the Italy, function which he exerts of 1897 with 1914. He works in Germany of 1914 with 1919 then share to study three years with the the United States. On its return, it takes the direction of the department of botany of the natural history museum of Stuttgart. Specialist in the Taxonomy of the succulent plants, in particular of the Sisal plant S and the Cactus, it makes appear in 1915 his Die Agaven where it describes 274 S of sisal plants. The S Bergerocactus (Cactaceae) and Bergeranthus (Mesembryanthemaceae) were dedicated to him.
