Alveolar Os
The alveolar bone is the Os which surrounds and maintains the Dent in place.
He lives and dies with the tooth. If there is a Agénésie, the alveolar bone will not be formed. When the tooth is not there any more, the alveolar bone gradually will be reorganized and reabsorbed.
The alveolar bone is present on two bones of the head, the bones carrying the teeth: the jawbone and the mandible.
It is in continuity with the basal bone.
The tooth is connected to the alveolar bone by the alvéolo-dental Ligament or Desmodonte. It is thus about a Articulation, with possible movements (even if those are very reduced). The tooth is not welded with the bone.
