Aluku
The Alukus - the term decides aloukou - constitutes a Ethnicity Suriname resulting from descendants of slaves African rebels, the Bushinegues - literally, black of the forests , so called Noirs chestnuts -, which are escaped Dutch plantations with the XVIIe and XVIIIe century S - the current Suriname corresponds to the old colony of Dutch Guyana.
Before them other slaves were escaped: the first are those which will form the group Saramaca, the seconds the group Djuka. Alukus are also called Bonis , of the name of their first chief, Boni Bokilifu, a mulatto himself slave. Being inserted, little by little, in the Amazon forest, they ended up settling at the end of the 18th century along the banks of the river Lawa affluent of the Maroni, forming today the border between the French Guiana and Suriname.
Progressively of mixings between the various populations in escape they formed a new ethnos group. The combat carried out for their freedom against the Dutch troops, but also against the Djuka S and the Saramaca S, enemy brothers living more in north, created a feeling of membership of the same people indifferently living side or other of the river, today border.
Their traditional language is a Creole at English base (approximately to 90%). It is similar to the spoken languages by the Saramaca S and the Djuka S. There is as much difference between Aluku and Djuka which enters French of Marseilles and that of Brest.

Another part, very downstream is close to the mouth of the river with the villages of Apatou and Maïman. There exists also a very important Aluku population with Saint-Laurent-of-Maroni the, Cayenne and Kourou.
