Altranstädt

Altranstadt is a village of Germany, located in Saxony, close to Lützen.

It is famous for peace ( Traité of Altranstadt ) signed the September 24th 1706 between Charles XII, king de Suède, and Auguste II, king de Pologne, who saw himself constrained to give up the crown of Poland.

Until 1815 the commune of Altranstädt made party of the Amt Lützen of the district of Leipzig of the Royaume of Saxony, then it made party in the district of Merseburg of the Prussia province of Saxony. In 1946 lived 1817 inhabitants there. 1951 the commune of Altranstädt was to integrate in the commune of Großlehna. January 1st 2006 the commune of Großlehna was to integrate in the town of Markranstädt.
