History

Altona 93 was founded in 1893 under the name of Altonaer Cricketclub 1893 by a group of young high-school pupils and merchants with Altona, then a working big city (known as Altona-the-red ) in Prussia. One year later the club is famous Altonaer FuCC 1893 , then Altonaer FC 1893 . In the same year, it takes part in the foundation of one of the first regional federations of Germany, the Hamburg-Altonaer Fußball-Bund . 1898,1899,1900,1902 and 1903 it had gained the championship of Hamburg and Altona. In 1900, it is among approximately the 80 clubs founders of the German Fédération (DFB). Its player Franz Behr becomes vice-president of this federation (up to 1904, date when he emigrated towards America of the south).

In 1903, the club takes part in the first championship of Germany; after a paperboard of 8:1 against Victoria Magdeburg, it is the VfB Leipzig, which finishes the rèves of Altona 93 in semi-final (6: 3 in Leipzig) and becomes first champion of Germany (7: 2 against DFC Prague in front of 2000 spectators in the Pasture of exercise in Altona). The referee of this final is… Franz Behr.

In spring 1914, a few months before the Great War, Altona 93 lose 1:4 a.p. in first turn of the championship against the Duisburger SV. 1919, the club amalgamates with the Altonaer TS 1880 under the name VfL Altona , connection short, because since 1923 (after the rescission of the ATS 1880) it is Altonaer FC 1893 VfL . During the years 1920, it is especially the epopee of the large local rival, Union 03 Altona, and also the Hamburg SV, Eimsbütteler TV and Victoria Hamburg prevent the club from presenting in championships North and of Germany. In 1938, Altona 93 amalgamates with SV Borussia 03 Bahrenfeld and is called Altonaer FC 1893 Borussia . Since 1979 it bears its old name Altonaer FC von 1893 again. Since 1895, Altona 93 played more high level of the German foot during 64 seasons: in Leagues of Hamburg-Altona, North and in Gauliga up to 1945, Stadtliga rsp. From 1963 to 1968, Altona evolved/moved in the second division and from now on in lower divisions (third with fifth league). In Coupe the club reached the semi-finals in 1955 (3: 3 a.p. and 0:3 against Karlsruher SC) and 1964 (1: 4 a.p. against TSV Munich 1860), or it was done folded before the club gaining the Cut respective.

Today Altona 93 usually plays only before 500 spectators in Northern Oberliga (D4) - except the adversary names FC Sankt Pauli (pro teams or reserve): the great competition of the supporters exists since ten years approximately, and when the clubs meet out of Cut or Oberliga, the Adolf-Jäger-Kampfbahn in Altona is always well filled.
