Altichiero da Zevio

Altichiero da Zevio or Aldighieri da Zevio (Zevio, ~1330 - ~1390) is an Italian painter of Gothic style .

Biography

Wire of Domenico da Zevio, he becomes pupil with the workshop of Turone di Maxio da Camenago. Its paintings are of giottesque inspiration lombarde. He worked with Vérone and Padoue (church Sant' Anastasia in Vérone and basilica of Sant' Antonio and the oratorio di San Giorgio in Padoue) where he shares the credit of this work with Jacopo d' Avanzi, which remains a painter little known.

  • Frescos of the church Santa Anastasia in Vérone, representing the Georges saint, Martin and Jacques (~1370)
  • Frescos of the basilica del Santo in Padoue, representing the Storie di San Giacomo and the Crocefissione (1376-1379).
  • Frescos of the oratory of San Giorgio in Padoue, representing the Crocefissione , Incoronazione della Vergine , the Storie dell' infanzia di Cristo and the Storie di San Giorgio, di Santa Caterina d' Alessandria E di Santa Lucia (teminées in 1384).
