Altenbourg
Altenbourg (in German: Altenburg ) is a town of Thuringe (Germany) of 40.000 inhabitants, in the south of Leipzig.
History
Formerly free city, it passed to the margraves of Misnie (1308), then with the dukes of Saxony-Gotha. It was until 1918 the capital of the duchy of Saxony-Altenbourg-
the duchy of Saxony-Altenbourg: the dukes of Saxony-Gotha had a vast domain around Altenbourg, located between the Prussia, the Royaume of Saxony, the Grand-duché of Weimar and the principalities of Reuss, Schwarzbourg and Cobourg, with title of principality.
Starting from the extinction of the branch of Saxony-Gotha in 1825 this field formed one of the States of the Germanic Confédération with title of Duché.

The city of Skat
Celebrate town of manufacture of card decks, the city is also known to have seen the birth of the national card deck, the Skat. Besides since a hundred years, it shelters various leading authorities of the German federation of skat.
