Alte Pinakothek
The Alte Pinakothek ( Old Art gallery ) is a Musée located at Munich, in Germany. Its galleries are primarily dedicated to the European Art of 13th at the 18th century. The Alte Pinakothek form with the Neue Pinakothek (18th-19th century) and the Modern Pinakothek DER (20th century) a gigantic complex museographic.
The institution was founded in 16th century by the Duc Guillaume IV of Bavaria. The building of 1826 was very damaged during the Second world war. It is the work of the Architecte Leo von Klenze.
The collection
Approximately 700 paintings are permanently exposed in 19 rooms and 47 cabinets. Temporary exhibitions take place regularly.-
German Painting of the 14th-17th century
The Alte Pinakothek has an important collection of German painting, in particular of works of Stefan Lochner, of Albrecht Dürer ( the Four Apostles , the Autoportrait in Hermine ), of Albrecht Altdorfer ( the Battle of Alexandre ) ( Suzanne with the bath ), of Lucas Cranach Old the ( crucifixion of Christ ), of Hans Holbein ( the Martyrdom of Saint Sebastien ), as well as Matthias Grünewald, Michael Pacher, Hans von Aachen, Adam Elsheimer, or Johann Lily.

The exceptional collection of Dutch painting includes/understands in particular masterpieces of Dierick Bouts (" Ecce Agnus Dei"), Rogier van der Weyden, Lucas van Leyden, Jerome Bosch (" Fragment of the Dernier" Judgment;), Rembrandt van Rijn (" Holy Famille") (" Descent of Croix"), Pieter Lastman, Frans Halls or Gerald Terborch.

French Painting of 18th and 18th century
In spite of the close relations of the Wittelsbach S with France, this collection is one of smallest. One find there in particular works of Claude Lorrain (" sight of a Port to the Sun couchant"), Nicolas Chick (" Midas and Bacchus"), Jean-Honore Fragonard (" Young lady in Chien") , François Butcher (" Madam de Pompadour"), Jean-Baptist-Siméon Chardin, Maurice-Quentin of the Tower (" Miss Ferrand meditates on Newton"), Nicolas Lancret, Claude Joseph Vernet (" Eastern port with Sleeping of Soleil").

Spanish Painting of the 16th-18th century
Although it is smallest, all the large Masters of Spanish painting are represented in this collection, in particular Murillo, Velazquez (" Noble young person espagnol"), El Greco (" Examination of Christ"), of Cruz (" Infante Isabelle Claire Eugenie d' Espagne"), Jusepe de Ribera (" Bartholomé" saint;) and Zurbarán. Paintings of Goya are exposed to the Neue Pinakothek .
