Alte Kommandantur

It was destroyed, in order to leave room to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the ex GDR. In 1995, the ministry was in its turn destroyed in order to rebuild the old district of the Werderscher Markt .

The building of Alte Kommandantur was rebuilt thereafter by the company Bertelsmann, specialized in the media on the avenue Unter den Linden, one of most prestigious of Berlin. Being given the absence of plans, the building was built according to photographs of pre-war period and testimonys. Its construction was finally completed in November 2003.
