Altan Khan
Altan Khan (1507 - 1582) (in Chinese: 俺答汗, in Mongolian: АлтанХаан), also called Helatan Khan whose first name was Anda , was the chief of the Right wing of the Mongolian and controlled the whole of the Mongolia.
He was the second wire of the Jinong Bars Bolud and the small son of Dayan Khan, which had reunified noble Mongolian in the hope to cover glory with the time of the Dynastie Yuan. Altan Khan directed the Toumètes or Tümed and its older brother Gün Bilig, the Ordos. After the death of Gün Bilig in 1542, Altan became the chief de facto of the Mongolian Right wing and accepted the title of " Tösheetü Sechen Khan."
When Bodi Alagh Khan, the chief legitimates Mongols Chakhar, died in 1547, Altan forced the successor of Bodi Alagh, Darayisung Küdeng Khan, to flee in the east. In 1551 Darayisung made a compromise with Altan and accepted the title of " Gegeen Khan".
Altan Khan is known for the re-establishment of the bonds between Mongolia and the religious leaders of the Tibet. Altan Khan created and offered the title of Dalaï Lama (" Ocean of Sagesse") with Sonam Gyatso, chief of the reforming current Guélougpa, title which was applied retrospectively to its two predecessors (Gedun Drub and Gedun Gyatso). It invited twice Sonam Gyatso, the third Dalaï Lama, into Mongolia (1569, 1578) and is converted with the Bouddhisme Tibetan during the second visit of the LAMA.
Altan Khan threatened the dynasty Ming by making the seat of Beijing in 1550. The Chinese emperor was forced to grant important commercial privileges to him.
Altan Khan and his Sanniangzi wife, started to establish a city in 1581 (in the beginning a strengthened monastery) and named it Hohhot, which wants to say “blue city” in Mongolian, according to the color of the walls of the temple built out of blue bricks. The city was also called “Sanniangzi”. Hohhot is now the capital of the Inner Mongolia.
After its death Sengge Düüreng succeeded to him like Khan.
