Alta California

The Alta California (higher California) was formed in 1804 when the province of California, then part of the Spanish colony of News-Spain, was divided into two along a line separating the missions franciscaines in north from the Dominican missions in the south. The southern part became the territory of the Péninsule of Low-California or California Vieja , while the northern part was the California Nueva . It gathered the Actual positions of California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona of north and Wyoming of south-west (the United States).
