Alpnach
Alpnach is a common Suisse, located in the canton of Obwald.
Geography
The commune includes/understands the two localities of Alpnach Dorf and Alpnachstad, as well as the hamlet of Schoried. It is located at the foot of the Pilate, at the end of the Western arm of the lake of the Four-Cantons, which bears the name of Alpnachersee.
History
The Romans were among the first to be settled in Alpnach. The name of the village however is not quoted for the first time in 881.The locality made great strides with the inauguration of the line of the way-of-iron of Pilate in 1889.
Economy
A military aerodrome is arranged on the territory of the commune. It accommodates today the helicopters of the aerodrome of Emmen.Since 2001, Alpnach shelters a center of microphone-robotics of CSEM to Neuchâtel. This establishment aims at positioning central Switzerland like area specialized in high technologies.
