Alpirsbach

Alpirsbach is a town of Germany, located in the district of Freudenstadt and the Land of Bade-Wurtemberg.

It is in Black Forest, to 13 km in the south of Freudenstadt and is sprinkled by the Kinzig, an affluent of Right Bank of the the Rhine.

History

The monastery Benedictine of Alpirsbach is founded in 1095. The monks who settle there, coming from the monastery close to St-Blasien, build abbey monumental there.

The 15th century, Alpirsbach benefits from the economic growth related to the reform of Bursfeld to which the monastery adheres, then thrives at the end of the 17th century with mining industry (gold, money and cobalt).

The 19th century will see the decline of the city and a reduction in the number of its inhabitants.

Administration

The city was attached to the district of Freudenstadt at the time of the communal reform of 1938.

It is made up of the six following localities:

  • Rötenbach (fusion in 1938)
  • Reinerzau (fusion on April 1st, 1974)
  • Peterzell (fusion on April 1st, 1974)
  • Reutin (fusion on January 1st, 1971)
  • Römlinsdorf (fusion on April 1st, 1974)
