Alpine Express train

The Alpin Express train is a disengageable Téléphérique of type 3" S" connecting Saas-Fairy and Felskinn while passing by the intermediate station of Morenia (in the past Maste 4 ). The cable car serves the field skiable Saas-Fairy, and ensures the access to the alpine Métro in direction of Mittelallalin.

Technique

The Alpine Express train is not a Téléphérique with properly saying. Several cabins circulate in loop similarly with those of a Télécabine. The difference is that traction on the Alpine Express train is done by a separate cable of the two carrying cables, contrary to a telpher carrier where one to two cables act at the same time as tractor cables and carriers. This solution allows cabins much larger, without to lose the advantages of circulation in loop compared to a system of go-and-come, less practical on this type of installation.
