Alphonse VIII of Castille
Alphonse VIII born the November 11th 1155, dead the October 5th, 1214, king de Castille and of Tolède.
It reached the throne in 1158, at the three years age, with died of his father the king Sanche III. The child-king is then a stake between the two parties peerage-books which dispute the capacity, Lara and Castro. His/her uncle, the king de León Ferdinand II also claimed regency, which leads to a civil quasi-war. Alphonse was saved by a rider of the royal house which took it along in the honest cities of the north of Castille, San Esteban de Gormaz and Ávila. He had to reconquer his kingdom by the force as of his adolescence. He reconquered by surprised the capital Tolède of the hands of Lara. To unify the nobility Castilian behind him, it started again the reconquista. It annexed Rioja and carried out a great forwarding of the Hispanic sovereigns in 1212. Forwarding which leads to the Bataille of Mow Navas de Tolosa which broke the capacity of the Almohade S.
Alphonse VIII was the founder of the first Spanish university the general studium of Palence, which disappeared after its death. He founded also the Ordre of Alcantara.
It Maria in 1176 with Aliénor Plantagenêt, girl of Henri II of England and Aliénor of Aquitaine, whose possessions made of it the largest sovereign of the moment. They had twelve children:
