Explanations
The tamoul comprises five Consonne S Rétroflexe S: ṭ, ḍ, ṇ, ṣ and ḷ , known as " fortes" , which is marked by folding up the language towards the palate and by carrying out a slapping. The letters ஷ ( ṣa ), ஸ (its), ஜ (dja), க்ஷ ( kṣa ), ஶ (cha) and ஹ (ha) do not belong strictly speaking to the alphabet tamoul, but are borrowed from the Grantha to note particular sounds, often in words borrowed from the Sanskrit. These letters are of a use relatively running, but one will be able to also find well of them others, in a very sporadic way, which are in addition even not planned for Unicode.
Certain consonants are voiced or not according to the context, but there are many exceptions. The double consonants or with initial of a word are generally not voiced. It is important to note that:
-
ச்ச decides tcha
- ஞ்ச decides ndja
- ங is always followed of க and decides nga
- the sound U , at the end of the word, decides as the E French
- the ak (ஃ) transforms p (ப) and the J (ஜ): பஃ decides F and ஜஃ decides za
The consonants, sometimes geminated by means of the virâma, are supported just a little.
