The alphabet nabatéen is a consonant alphabet (Abjad) used by the Nabatéens starting from the II E. Inscriptions were retouvées with Pétra. This alphabet derives from the Aramean alphabet, and is at the origin of the Arabic alphabet as from the 4th century.
