Alpaïde de Bruyères

Alpaïde de Bruyères , second wife (or concubine) of Pip of Herstal, is the mother of Charles Martel stock of the dynasty of the Carolingiens, and of Childebrand stock of the family of the Nibelungides.

The late Hagiographie of holy Lambert will make the sister of Dodon of it, the assassin of the saint. Saint Lambert would have at the time of a banquet with Herstal publicly reproached Pépin his connection extra congugale. Vexée Alpaïde would then have financed near his/her brother the assassination of this gêneur.
The goal of this hagiography was not so much to defend a moral rigor of the Church (moreover anachronistic) only to soil the image of the Carolingiens.
