Located at the west of center of Honolulu and at 2 miles in the north of the International airport of Honolulu, the Aloha Stadium was inaugurated the September 12th 1975 and cost $37 million USD. It replaced the old man Honolulu Stadium, demolished in December 1976. The first match of American football played in the stage proceeded the September 13rd 1975 in front of 32,247 spectators and he opposed the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors to Texas A&I, Rainbows were severely demolishes 43 to 9. The first match with closed counter (salt out) of Rainbows was the December 2nd 1978 against USC Trojans with 48,467 spectators.

In 1997, a series of 3 matches of the regular season MLB between the Cardinals of Saint-Louis and the Padres de San Diego was played in this stage.

The surface of play of the AstroTurf type was changed into FieldTurf during the year 2003.

Aloha Stadium can be modified in various configurations for various events thanks to its mobile platforms, and it was the first stage of the kind to the the United States with these possibilities. Four mobile sections, each one weighing 3,5 million books and a capacity of 7.000 places, can move by using air cushions in a diamond configuration for the Baseball (also used for the Soccer), in oval for the American football, or in triangle for the Concert S. In January 2007, the stage was positioned in a permanent way in its configuration in oval for the American football, this for questions of cost and maintenance.

There was many débâts with the legislators of the state of Hawaii who are concerned with the physical status of the stage. Several questions arose concerning rouillement building, several hundreds of seats which must be replaced, and numbers of toilets which must be increased to adapt to more visitors.

Beginning 2007, the state proposed to spend $300 million USD to build a new enclosure by opposition to roughly spend $216 million in order to prolong the life of Aloha Stadium during 20 more or 30 years. A member of council said that so restorations are not made in the seven years come, then the stage will have to probably be demolished because of the preoccupations with a safety.

In May 2007, the state allocated 12,4 million dollars USD to be used to remove corrosion and rust on the structure.
