Allociné

AlloCiné is a company of French origin providing services and information Cinématographiques. Intitialement, Allociné is a service of telephone information on the programs of cinema, which was essential thanks to a mnemotechnical number (40 30 20 10 then 01 40 30 20 10) and the absence of surtax on the call, contrary to its competitors. The company diversifies then, showing of a technical aggressiveness and an imagination of services enabling him to impose itself today like gate Internet of reference in France in this field.

A time property of Canal+ then of Universal, the company again became independent, before being repurchased by Tiger Global , funds of American investment in June 2007.

If AlloCiné is especially centered on the promotion of the innovations in rooms and DVD and information concerning the programming, its site also offers a database covering all the films which were diffused in France, with rather rich information and a site to the rapid access.

In 2005, Allociné extends its database to the televised series.

History

Created in 1993 by the company Production of the Telephone (founders: Jean-David Blanc and Patrick Holzman), Hello Movies is taken again by Canal Numédia (subsidiary company Internet of Canal+) to 25% beginning 2000, 75% in August 2000 to be repurchased at 100% by Canal Plus in May 2001.

Property of Vivendi Universal, Hello Movies is attached to subsidiary company Internet of the group in 2002. Its service Hello Movies Vision (launched in January 2001) evolves/moves in Kiosk Movies and makes it possible to try out to it video at the request of high banc on Internet during first half of the year 2002. The company projects at the same time to develop an offer for mobiles according to the setting places accesses high bancs. It has indeed already an experiment in this field since the installation of Hello Mobile Movies Edition on the wap in 1999.

Hello Movies also invests the field of television, after being developed on the minitel, the telephone (audiotel), the mobile, the gates of operators (SFR Ciné), the Web and in the press (Hello Mag Movies). Launched in 2000, Hello Movies Television amalgamates with its competitor the April 26th, 2002, under the mark Hello Movies Information (AlloCiné TV 50%, Ciné Information 50%); it is diffused on TPS (Movies Information are initially controlled by Suez and thus diffused on TPS) under this name until in December 2002. The company had already integrated an offer of armchair shopping by acquiring in August 2000 Cinéstore.com, site of product sales derived cinematographic and discs vidéos resulting from the VPC. The sale of the tickets on line accounts for indeed only 15 to 20% of the turnover of Hello Movies.

Appearing among the credits easiest to sell of CONSIDERING, Hello Movies become again independent in September 2003 with the favor of the Restructuration of the group, envisaging to manage to release from the benefit in 2004 (in spite of 4,5 Million Euros of losses in 2003).

The company is taken again by the funds of investment Cita Gestion FCPR1 (Company of Investment in the Leading-edge technologies, funds of French investment created in 1985 with parity between French and Kuwaiti financial institutions). In addition to a “important margin of progression” (less than 1% of the tickets of cinema are sold on line in France against 60% in the United States according to the press service of Hello Movies), this company occupies a position of quasi monopoly of gate of the cinema, selling its contents and its services with the whole of the gates general practitioners and to the mobile telephone operators. In June 2007, Hello Movies is yielded to Tiger Global, funds of American investment which acquires a majority stake within the capital of the company for an amount not communicated. According to Le Figaro , valorization would reach 120 million euros.
