Alliance of the Four Races

In the fictitious universe of Stargate, the Grande Alliance was created several thousands of years ago by the four wisest races of the known universe. Its objective is the division and the exchange of their knowledge, their wisdom, their spirituality and their culture.

It includes/understands:

the Old (also known under the names of “Lantiens” and “Alterans” in other periods or galaxies), which is most powerful by far, creators of the Porte of the stars and having achieves the Ascension for the majority since;
the Asgards, which reproduce only by cloning, become the best ally of the laughed Tau';
the Nox, which are most pacifist and more in symbiosis with nature;
the Furling S, of which one knows almost nothing, even at season 10 of Stargate SG-1.

It probably was not about a military alliance because the presence of weapon on Héliopolis was not detected.

The reasons of the obliteration of this alliance is still unknown but one can consider that the physical disappearance of the civilization of Old is there for something. In the same way, Asgards emigrated towards another galaxy.

It would seem that the land ones can become one day the fifth race.

Thor itself affirms in the last episode of Stargate SG-1 (10x20 - Unending) that the land ones are the 5th race, and that the future depends on them from now on.
