Alliance 90/Greens
Bündnis 90/Die Grünen (Alliance 90/Greens) is a German political party .
History
The green party German ( Die Grünen ) was born in West Germany from the movement pacifist ecologist and from the end from the Années 1970. In 1983, the Greens obtain their first seats with the Bundestag, then a parliamentary group in 1987. However, at the time of the general elections which follow the German reunification, fine 1990, they record a reverse and are not represented any more. On the other hand, “Alliance 90” ( Bündnis 90 ), an oppositional group of ex-Germany of the East of alternative tendency, obtained some seats on the quota reserved for the ex- GDR with the favor of the transitional provisions specific to this poll of the reunification. Greens and Alliance 90 decide to amalgamate in 1993, the party taking its current name then.Joschka Fischer takes part in the foundation of the Greens in 1982, with in particular Otto Schily, one of lawyers of the terrorists of the Baader-Meinhof group, which will become as for him Minister of Interior Department of the Schröder government. These two men will have with Cohn-Bendit a decisive influence at the beginning of the red-green coalition: suppression of the right of blood in the attribution of German nationality and engagement in the maintenance of peace, with soldier sending to the Kosovo.
In 2000, with the Humboldt University of Berlin, Mr. Fischer calls with the revival of the European Union thanks to the adoption of a constitution and with an avant-garde of an European Federation to come. After the fall of the Taliban in Afghanistan, it helps with the rebuilding with the organization of the Conférence of Petersberg to the end of the year 2001. In 2003, one then guessed it interested by the post of Foreign Minister of the EU. With the conference on the safety of Munich, he disapproved the American intervention in Iraq while launching in English with Donald Rumsfeld: ( I am not convinced. ).
In connection with the red-green coalition, Fischer declared in 2005: The chapter red-green, written by my generation, is irrevocably closed. The following chapter will be written by young people, less than forty years.
