Ring of Gold or money, symbol of the union contracted by the Marriage carried in the majority of the European countries to the annular left (except for example in Germany or Spain where it goes to the annular right).
According to the times and the countries, one carries the wedding ring (or Fiançailles) to the right hand, the left hand, annular and even to the inch. To the the Middle Ages, alliance is carried preferably to the right hand. It is only from that it is carried to the left hand to France. In Spain, except in Catalonia, and England, one carries the alliance to annular of the right hand. In the Scandinavian Countries, one rather carries alliance to the annular right. In Germany and in the Netherlands, the catholics carry alliance to the left hand and the Protestants to the right hand. In Poland and Russia, one carries alliance to the right hand.
With the passing of years, alliance became an object of mode, with the result that season in season, it changes style: if a few years ago, alliance was fine (2 mm of width), it is generally very broad currently (more 5mm). In the same way, it passed from the single color (yellow gold, white gold or money) towards a two-tone jewel (white gold and yellow gold), of a simple ring with two concentric rings composed of these two colors. Certain alliances are also decorated of diamond and are rather intended for the woman.
In the legends
The Anneau of Nibelung was offered by Siegfried to Brünnhilde in pledge of love. It is also about a simple gold ring.
