Allectus

Allectus , died in 296, was a Breton adventurer which usurped the imperial throne in 293.

He was initially civil servant of finances of Carausius, general Roman, who had usurped purple in the Great Britain.

He assassinated it to take purple in his turn in 293, supported by the merchants of London.

In order to save what could the being, it renonça to defend its continental provinces. It repatriated in Great Britain the most combative legions like its intact fleet. But Constance Chlorinates decided to prepare its invasion well because the powerful fleet of Allectus patrolled constantly in the English Channel, and moreover, the north of the Gaulle was not pacified yet. The unloading was done into 296, operated at the same time by Constance Chlorinates and its prefect of the court Asclepiodote which had glory to overcome the troops of Allectus and to kill it at the time of the engagements.
