Allainville-with-Wood is a common department of the Yvelines, in the area Île-de-France, in France, located at approximately 23 km in the south of Rambouillet.

The name of Allainville derives from the Latin name , Allanus , reference to the Alains which populated the area.

The inhabitants are called Allainvillois.

Geography

Located at the extreme south-east of Yvelines, bordering on the departments of the the Essonne and Eure-et-Loir, Allainville is a rural district, with the flat and stripped territory characteristic of the Beauce.

It is bordering on the communes of Boinville-the-Strapping man and Saint-Martin-with-Bréthencourt in north, of Paray-Douaville in the west, Garancières-in-Beauce and Sainville in the south and of Chatignonville and Corbreuse in the east.

The commune is served by the Trunk road 191 which connects Rambouillet to Étampes (the Essonne). It is crossed in its part is by the A10 (Paris - Orleans) and lodges an exchanging with the crossing with RN 191.

In addition to the principal borough, the commune includes/understands two isolated hamlets: Hattonville and Obville.

Administration

History

  • Site of the Villa Alleni (Gallo-Roman time).
  • At the XVIIIe century the territory is divided between two Paroisse S, Allainville and Hattonville. Allainville is a seigniory attached to the County of Montfort.

Culture

  • Saint-Pierre Church: church of Romance style out of Grinding stone dating from the 13th century. The bell-tower on three floors rises on the right-sided of the chorus.
  • Town hall-school: stone building, with ornamentations out of red bricks, built in 1911.
  • Trace of Gallo-Roman way and burials of the same time.
