Alisterus

The kind Alisterus gathers three species of Psittacidae:

  • the royal Parakeet - Alisterus scapularis (Lichtenstein, 1816)
  • the Parakeet of Amboine - Alisterus amboinensis (Linnaeus, 1766)
  • the Parakeet with green wings - Alisterus chloropterus (E.P. Ramsay, 1879).

This kind is characterized by a lengthened form although relatively compact, a tail long, punt and round, a small and light nozzle compared to the size of the bird.

This kind generally presents a certain sexual dimorphism: case of the Parakeets royal and with green wings and of the subspecies (except for one only) of the Parakeet of Amboine.
