Alisa Camplin
Alisa Camplin , born the November 10th 1974 with Melbourne, is a lifting skier Australia in the discipline of the lifting jump.
Career
Alisa Camplin is a ex gymnaste, also coed in technologies the information in the years 1990, which was reconverted into the lifting ski jump while following the example of its compatriot Kirstie Marshall. She contacted the Australian Olympic committee in 1994 in order to become jumping lifting whereas she had never skied.
Before the Olympic Games of Salt Lake City in 2002, its results were limited to a dozen places of honor (no victory), which did not make it favorite of the Olympic test contrary to its compatriot Jacqui Cooper. The latter having wounded its knee with the drive one week before the OJ, Alisa then took on all the Australian hopes of medal. One day only after the first Australian gold medal of the history in OJ of winter (incredible victory of Steven Bradbury), Alisa Camplin then made it possible its country to intend once again to resound the national anthem thanks to two jumps made up of a double triple-twisting and backflip . She then announced that she had been relieved to see Bradbury gaining gold before her because that had removed to him an additional pressure in its race with the title.
After a wound with the knee in October 2005, Alisa had to undergo an operation but it returned to the competition only 11 weeks afterwards. A fourth place at the time of a test of World cup to Lake Placid guarantees its selection in the Australian team to him to defend her Olympic title with Turin in 2006, where it was indicated as carry-flag of the national delegation at the time of the opening ceremony before empocher a relatively unexpected bronze medal since it had partly missed her preliminary round with resulting of which the other Australian one in race, Jacqui Cooper, appeared better positioned for the race with the podium. Finally, it was fourth after the first jump and, at the time of the second jump, it lost even a place after the large performance of the Swiss woman Evelyne Leu. Alisa then owed its presence on the podium only with the landings missed by two of the three Chinese competitors which preceded it with resulting from the first jump (Nannan Xu and Xinxin Guo).
Anecdotes
- It measures 1,57m.
- Whereas the other jumpers use small flags of their country to indicate their marks, Alisa uses a spoon of wood at the time of the OJ of Salt Lake City because of possible confusion with that of Jacqui Cooper at the beginning of its career. The spoon out of wooden was selected in agreement with the metaphorical price traditionally given to the people or to teams which arrive last in a competition.
