Aline Sitoé Diatta

The queen and priestess Aline Sitoé Diatta (1920-1944) are a heroin of resistance casamançaise. It is called sometimes the “Jeanne d' Arc of Africa”.

Biography

It was born with Kabrousse in the district from Niolou in 1920. His/her parents were Silisia Diatta and Assonelo Diatta, but it was raised by her paternal uncle Elaballin Diatta with died of her father.

Posterity

Its name was given to a district Dakar located near the Université Sheik Anta Diop (the City Aline Sitoé Diatta), at a stage of Ziguinchor (the Stade Aline Sitoé Diatta), like with various schools and organizations.

An exposure was devoted to him in 2007.

The Aline Sitoé Diatta is the boat which will ensure starting from 2008 the Dakar-Ziguinchor connection, to replace the Wilis , itself successor of the Joola , of tragedy report.
