Alice Springs

Alice Springs (: 26486 inhabitants) is a city located in the Territoire of North of the Australia, in Outback, in the middle of the grounds, in full desert. with 1500 kilometers of Darwin and to 1532 of Adelaide. Alice Springs is, by the population, the second city of the territory after Darwin. Alice Springs is also called " the Alice " by its inhabitants.

History

The area was explored by Europeans for the first time at the 19th century. In 1862, John McDouall Suart crosses the area of the South to North. He draws up charts to find the place ideal for the installation of the colonies. It is him which gave its name to Stuart Highway which is the main roads which joined North in the South of Australia. The city was called " Stuart" but after much of debate, it was famous Alice Springs in 1933.
