Alice (company)

History

Telecom Italia is the founder of 9télécom company which was " revendue" with LDCOM following the failure of its strategy.

September 2003: Telecom Italia France is of return by proposing the offer total Dégroupage under the mark Alice ADSL. The company thus deploys in France its own private fiberoptic network. It is the first offer making it possible not to more be subscribed France Telecom while preserving her phone number. The characteristic of the offer is also to propose a free and open hotline 24:00 /24.

June 2005: Telecom Italia repurchases Libertysurf group (Tiscali France) like its compatible fiber optic network ADSL2+.

September 2005: Alice benefits from a new notoriety by the repurchase of Tiscali France and proposes an offer Triple play (including/understanding ADSL, the telephone on IP and television).

November 2005: Alice launches her TV offer by ADSL ready for MPEG-4.

July 2007: Alice announces to have 847.000 customers ADSL and more than 1 customers million on the whole.

In connection with Alice ADSL

The Supplier of access to Internet (FAI) made an entry at the national level since the first September 2006 thanks to an offer Triple play and is posed challenger of Free ADSL and Wanadoo/Orange France with the modem Alice Box.

Alice is the first FAI to propose a free Hotline but which quickly became victim of its success, becoming not easily reachable during a time.

To avoid this problem, the direction engaged more than 1600 advisers composing the hotline in date of November 2006.

Alice supplements her offer since the November 3rd 2005 by television. To a free bouquet of more than 42 chains are added the paying bouquets following a partnership with the company TPS as well as packs of chains by set of themes (action, charms…)

Alice proposes with her subscribers a Décodeur TV in flow compatible MPEG-4 TNT and high-definition.

The video with the request leaves the January 17th 2007 in the cities dégroupées France. Naked ADSL arrives, at Alice, the 2007, that makes it possible to avoid the subscription France Telecom in zone non-dégroupée by Alice.

Alice Box

AliceBox is a modem making it possible to profit from the offer of access to Internet high banc multiplay (Internet + Téléphonie IP + Télévision) suggested by Telecom Italia France (offers marketed under the Alice mark).

It is about the technical equivalent of the Freebox (Free Telecom), of the NeufBox (Neuf Telecom), etc

There exist three models different of AliceBox :

the CT633 of the company Comtrend,
the AH4021 of Hitachi,
the Sagem F@st 3302. (chipset very widespread because also present in the livebox, C-box and neufbox)

The modems are equipped with a port usb, Wifi integrated (Ah4021 de Hitachi and Sagem Fast 3302 of Sagem) or are equipped with a chart wifi (Comtrend CT633).

They include/understand two ports Ethernet of which a port reserved at the exit TV-Video (3 ports + 1 video for the CT633).

The Alicebox modem is supplemented by a decoder TV of compatible Sagem mark HD.

The modem can be connected to the decoder by electric transmission current (CPL) in order to do without a telegraphic connection.
